Fall in Florida Can Be Beautiful, Too!
Florida is well known for a lot of things. We have amazing beaches, beautiful springs, palm trees, tropical drinks, and some incredible wildlife. One thing we are not noted for is colorful fall scenery. Lately I have seen some impressive fall foliage posted by some of my fellow bloggers who live in or have visited sites in the northern United States. The fall is really a gorgeous time of the year up there. Down here we don’t get the cooler weather that starts the trees changing until later in the fall, and it is nowhere near as showy as it is up north, but we do get some pretty fall colors. That was definitely notable a couple of weeks ago when I was out in the pine flatwoods of Gothe State Forest. As I walked around quite a few of the oaks and poplars were changing and the green of the pines made for a nice contrast. It’s not Acadia National Park or the Blue Ridge Parkway, but I still thought it was some pretty scenery on a beautiful fall afternoon.
