The Striped Eye of an Aquatic Turtle is Quite Beautiful

One of the young men who works in our office returned with this turtle when he went out on a dog call one day. It was the strangest looking dog I’ve ever seen!!! But seriously, he found the turtle caught in some underbrush on the property where he went to pick up the dog. He actually brought back both the dog and the turtle. We have no idea how the turtle got where it was since there weren’t any bodies of water in the area. It was too big to have been picked up by a hawk, so all we can guess is that either a person or the dog brought it there. It wasn’t hurt, so he took it out to a local lake area later on in the day, but not until after I took some photos.
